Vulnerability is not about what you share. It’s Vulnerability is not about what you share.
It’s about what it costs you to share it.

Some people think vulnerability means exposing failure.
But vulnerability is actually defined by risk—not content.

For one person, sharing struggle feels terrifying.
For another, it feels natural and safe.
For some, what feels vulnerable isn’t failure at all—it’s courage.
It’s naming desire.
It’s claiming strength.
It’s saying, “I can,” or “I want more.”

So the real question isn’t, Should I share my failures?
The real inquiry is:
What feels unsafe for me to say?
What does it cost me to share?

That edge is where courage grows.

Failure is a separate conversation.
There is real value in sharing it. Failure can humanize us. It can show that growth isn’t frictionless. But when failure becomes the destination of the story, it stops lifting. It creates commiseration, not possibility.

If the intention is inspiration, failure must serve something greater.

So before I share anything publicly, I ask one question:

What will sharing this create?

What will it create in others?
What will it create in me?
What will it create in the collective field?

That question changed everything.

I care less about whether something is “right” or “wrong” to share, and more about what it creates. Upliftment matters. Possibility matters. Beauty matters.

Vulnerability is courage.
Failure is a tool.

And the guiding question remains:
What will sharing this create?

There is an orange tree on our farm that has no or There is an orange tree on our farm that has no oranges on it.

When my family came to visit, I had to tell them it was an orange tree. Otherwise, they would not have known.

That raised a simple question:

Is an orange tree without oranges really an orange tree?

Most people confuse identity with Being.
This mistake quietly erodes power.

Identity and Being are not the same.

We may call a fruitless tree an “orange tree,” but its name is not an expression of its reality. A tree is known by what it gives. It is known by its fruit.

It is useful to cultivate identity.
By focusing attention on who we declare ourselves to be, we aim ourselves in a direction.

But when identity replaces presence—when the idea becomes the thing—we lose contact with reality. And when that happens, we create far less than we’re capable of.

On one level, my tree has no oranges because the deer ravaged it this summer.

What’s also true is that I knew the deer were damaging it, and I did nothing to protect it.

Deep down, I knew that without protection, it would stop giving fruit. But instead of being present to that truth, I kept calling it an orange tree and assuming it would provide because of what it was.

This is the danger of leaning too heavily on identity.

Our Being is not what we think we are.
Our Being is what we actually express.

People declare “I am loving kindness” while offering little of this fruit to those closest to them.

A kind person who is not being kind is not, in truth, a kind person.

This distinction invites a subtler—and paradoxically more powerful—relationship with identity and Being.

We cultivate identity and we hold ourselves accountable to expression.
Each becomes a mirror for the other.
Each can feed the other.

But only when Being is held as primary.

TODAY I AM CELEBRATING 47 YEARS of living life so TODAY I AM CELEBRATING 47 YEARS of living life so relentlessly and unapologetically on my own terms that I have left a wake of possibility—one that other amazing and lovable humans have found great inspiration in.

It comes from a deep sense that life is experience, and the more we have, the more we live; that we are the expanding universe with a destiny to be big; and that love is not only a sentiment, but the trajectory of our soul’s calling.

Whether I have 47 more joyous years or merely one more joy-filled day, I am ready to live and ready to die, for my life is an adventure.

Happy Birthday, me! 🎂 🎉
